Need Not Greed Oxon is a campaign run by a coalition of local organisations.

Many local groups are fighting hard against inappropriate development in their particular community. Yet the current economic strategy for the county, produced without any public consultation, sets out such aggressive growth figures that more and more battles are likely to be coming our way.
We know it is difficult for volunteers, already giving up so much time to research and challenge local applications, to get involved in the bigger picture. That is why we would love you to give your backing to this campaign, so that we can demonstrate the overall concern we all share about the future of Oxfordshire.
We will campaign to encourage a re-think on the aggressive growth strategy being foisted on our county. We will do this by calling on decision-makers to give consideration to environmental and social concerns as part of high level strategic plans within Oxfordshire.
How can the coalition help local groups?
While there is no certainty of success in fighting off inappropriate development plans, the coalition offers local groups better odds, and the chance that fewer communities will be harmed by speculator greed.
We believe local groups will have much greater impact if they go into battle with the coalition supporting them.
Please support the campaign – by working together, we believe we can make a strong case for planning for real need not speculator greed in Oxfordshire.

Our Campaign Objectives
- To raise public awareness of the disparity between “need” and “greed”.
- To force a reassessment by the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Oxfordshire Growth Board and constituent Local Authorities of the developer-led, aggressive growth strategy being imposed on the county.
- To ensure full consideration of environmental and social concerns as part of high level strategic plans within Oxfordshire.
- To demand that Local Authorities and the LEP engage in sustained, transparent and meaningful stakeholder consultation and engagement, allowing the views of local people to influence future planning decisions.
